Poulnabrone is a large Dolmen or portal tomb located on one of the most desolate and highest points in the Burren. It is the most famous and photographed of the 172 dolmens in Ireland. The Burren (Irish Boireann meaning Rocky Place) is a unique region in County Clare of glaciated karst. The size of the Burren is around 250 square kilometres (97 sq miles) of exposed limestone with rich patches of green wherever there is soil.
